The Porch Partner's Guide to Hosting

📣 Welcome, Porch Partner!

We’re so glad you’re here.

‍

Porch Partners play a huge role in helping our D.C. Metro community stay connected to fresh, local food. Every pickup hosted, every conversation shared, and every neighbor invited helps strengthen our local food system in a real way.

‍

Our hosts that have 10+ pickup sites get free weekly produce, and we want to make it easy for you to get there.

‍

We've created ready-to-use signs, social posts, graphics, and images you can use anytime. Whether you post online, put out signage, or simply tell a friend about us, it all helps us grow. We've designed the Porch Host experience to be as simple and supportive as possible, and we're grateful to have you as part of this community. There are a few helpful things to know, which we've outlined in the sections ahead. Please review them, and if you ever need anything, we're here to help.

‍

Thank you for helping local food reach more families this season.

‍

Your Role in Supporting Local Food & Community

‍

With great rewards comes great responsibility. Being a Porch Partner means you’re agreeing to the following when you host a pickup site:

‍

🧹  Weekly Site Check

Make sure your pickup area is clean, safe, and accessible on pickup days. In bad weather, ensure boxes are covered or under shelter if possible.

‍

📋  Box Check & Grace Period Support

At the end of each pickup day, check if any boxes are left behind. Send a quick message to Farmhand with a list of members who still need to pick up (they’ll send out a reminder on your behalf).

‍

🚪 Help Members Feel Welcome

Occasionally, new members may ring your doorbell or knock because they’re confused about where to find their box. A friendly wave, pointing them to the right spot, or a quick explanation goes a long way.

‍

💬  Communication & Feedback

Let us know if anything comes up—missed deliveries, concerns about quality, or if your availability ever changes. We’re here to support you!

First post of the season

Best decision we made this year — our porch is officially a Deep Roots CSA pickup site. Year-round produce, picked-to-order, grown on 53 regenerative acres in Upper Marlboro by Farmer Gale and the Deep Roots Crew. Want in? deeproostfarm.us/csa

Our porch is on the Deep Roots route this year ✓ If you live nearby and want farm-fresh produce dropped a few houses down every week instead of a grocery run, here's where to sign up: deeproostfarm.us/csa

A season of farm-fresh produce headed to our porch starting soon. We're hosting a Deep Roots CSA pickup site — year-round, picked-to-order, at a fraction of the grocery store. If you want in, deeproostfarm.us/csa

Mid-Season feature

Deep Roots box just landed. Going to be a chard-and-eggs kind of week. deeproostfarm.us/csa

Prince George's County produce hits different in peak season. Our porch is a Deep Roots pickup site if you want in. deeproostfarm.us/csa

If you see me on the porch with a Deep Roots box, I'm not bragging — I'm hosting. Join us: deeproostfarm.us/csa

Hosts Eat Free — recruiting another porch

PSA for D.C. Metro neighbors: hosting a Deep Roots CSA pickup means your weekly share is on the farm. Year-round produce, picked-to-order, dropped right where you're already standing. If your porch has room and your neighbors would eat better with you, this is the easiest thing you'll do this year. deeproostfarm.us/csa

Reasons we host a Deep Roots CSA pickup: (1) the produce, (2) the eggs, (3) the herbs, (4) the flowers, (5) we get our weekly share free once the pickup site grows, (6) our neighbors save money on groceries, (7) we get to introduce people to Farmer Gale's work. Want a porch like ours? deeproostfarm.us/csa

Quietly the best deal we've found: open your porch to a Deep Roots CSA pickup, and once you've got 10+ neighbors on the route, your weekly share is on the farm. Year-round produce from a regenerative, Black-woman-owned farm in Upper Marlboro. deeproostfarm.us/csa

Story hooks (short)

This week's Deep Roots box just hit the porch.
